Running your first ever webinar or event is a HUGE milestone, and not one that should be overlooked. The opportunities that will present itself going forward are enormous!
That said, it’s not all smooth sailing from here. There’s still a lot you need to get into place before you can start taking advantage of all of those opportunities.
In particular, there’s things you need to know BEFORE you run your first webinar or event, before you even start promoting it.
These cold hard facts must be understood and reacted to. And if you don’t? Then your first ever webinar or event may well be your last!
Success in your first webinar or event is what’s at stake, and today I want to reveal these 3 facts so you can make sure success is all you experience in your first and subsequent webinars and events.
Before we get started, let’s quickly define “success” when it comes to webinars and events. Webinars and events are a great source of leads, sales, customers and clients. So the more of these your webinar or event gets, the more successful they are – right?
Whilst there’s many different factors that impact this, there’s one main factor: People. Traffic. Footfall. Visitors and viewers. People showing up, whether in person or virtually. If people don’t, success is impossible.
This leads me onto the first of the three facts I want to share with you today…
I’m sorry, but it’s just true. You could do the best possible job building a webinar or event that your audience would kill for, that offers so much value, so much content, a once in a lifetime unmissable opportunity – and not everybody who registers will show up. In fact, unless you’re dealing in small numbers, you’ll be lucky to get half of the people who register actually show up.
Why? Well some of it is down to you for sure. But as I say, no matter how much of a great job you do – some people still won’t show up. Why? Because life gets in the way. Things happen. People get distracted, or have to be called away urgently to deal with something. It’s not personal, it’s just reality.
What does knowing this fact do? It allows you to be prepared. It allows you to do all you can to get as many people to show up.
But even when people do show up, there’s something else you need to know…
It’s another hard truth, I’m afraid. People leave your webinars and events midway through. Why? Maybe the webinar or event is not that what thought it would be. That’s on you.
But again, it’s largely down to one thing: life. Maybe something came up and they had to go. Maybe they felt ill. The list of possibilities are endless.
But there’s only one thing you need to focus on – understanding this and being prepared for it.
Especially because…
That’s the third and final thing you need to know. Nobody likes being sold to. And whether people expect it or not (most people do), they’ve taken the content and now want to leave because they don’t want to take advantage of the opportunity to work with you.
Combine these three inevitabilities and you’re faced with significant barriers to your webinar and events success. Because less people will show up than you expect. Of those that do turn up, some will leave before the end – and some will leave when you try to sell to them.
So you’re left with less people to sell to, putting the success of your webinar or event in major jeopardy.
The solution?
Focus on getting more of the right people to register. Those people who are your ideal target audience, those who can benefit the most from attending.
This is just one of five of the most effective methods I recommend using to get MORE people to show up to your webinars and events.
So there you go. That’s the 3 things you need to know before you run your first webinar or event. Understanding and accepting these 3 facts are vital to your success. Don’t let your first webinar or event be your last!
